Frequently Asked Questions
How many dogs do you watch at a time?
Dedicated attention is what we do best. That’s why we limit ourselves to 3 boarding clients at a time. We have up to 4 additional dogs visiting during daytime hours for daycare and day training programs, bringing the total to a maximum of 7 visiting dogs at any given time.
What if my dog doesn’t get along with other dogs?
We prioritize the safety and comfort of all dogs in our care! If your dog doesn’t get along with other dogs, our environment may not be the best fit. But our house sitting services might be a good fit for your needs.
Do you require that dogs be neutered or spayed for services?
To be boarded in our home, dogs over one year old must be fixed. For housesitting, dog walking, and drop-in services, there are no spay or neuter requirements for your dog.
Will my dog be crated?
For services conducted in our home, dogs are crated:
For decompression breaks
When left home alone
To go to sleep at night
As such, we can only accept dogs who are comfortable in a crate. If your dog is crate-averse, you may prefer one of the services we offer in your home instead.
How long will my dog be left alone?
Giving your dogs care is our full-time focus. We may need to duck out from time to time to perform short services for other clients or run errands for ourselves, but dogs are never left home for more than 4 hours. (And honestly, it’s usually far less than that or, often, not at all.)
What’s it like at your place?
Our home is extremely dog friendly. We have four bedrooms, an open living room and kitchen, and a large outdoor and fully fenced space with turf, gravel, and shaded areas. Dogs enjoy full access to our home and yard any time they stay with us. If you’ll let us, we’ll even let them snuggle up on the bed.
Do you watch other animals besides dogs?
When providing services in your home, yes, we can provide care for other animals as well. In our home, pet care is limited to just dogs.
Do you offer a multi-dog discount?
For multiple services, we do offer discounts. Please refer to our service menu for more details.
Do you accommodate special medical needs?
We are happy to do whatever we can to keep your pet happy and healthy during their stay, yes! We have experience administering medications and can accommodate special medical needs! Pricing for these services is available upon request.
Can you accommodate special behavioral needs?
We have had anxious dogs ourselves and empathize deeply with those who have this question on their mind. We can accommodate some degree of reactivity or anxiety about boarding, yes. And we’re happy to talk through our capabilities and limitations transparently so we can help find the right care for your dog. Please inquire for more details. Pricing for dogs with behavioral challenges is available upon request.
What if there’s an emergency?
Accidents and emergencies are infrequent in our line of work, but they certainly can happen any time. We’re ready when they do, with certifications in Pet CPP from the American Red Cross.
Do you provide services on holidays?
We do provide services on holidays. There is a $10 surcharge for pet sitting on specific holidays including New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
Do you keep my house keys?
Your comfort and ease are our priority. For repeating or frequent clients, we can keep a set of keys to your house if you like! Alternatively, we are comfortable working with automated, keyless systems, lockboxes, and timed arrivals for key handoffs if you prefer.
What happens if I return early from my trip?
We’re happy to reunite you with your pooch early if something should change with your trip! We do need 3 days advance notice of cancellations in order to refund any fees paid for house sitting or boarding reservations. A 24-hour cancellation notice is fine for daycare. This allows us to reallocate resources and secure our schedule.
How far in advance should I book your services?
We typically book out about a month in advance for boarding services in our home. A little further for house sitting work. Daycare, dog walks, and drop-ins can usually be booked within about a week's time.
What is your cancellation policy?
You are welcome to cancel booked services any time. To get a complete refund:
House sitting and boarding reservations must be cancelled at least 3 days in advance.
Daycare, dog walks, and drop-in reservations must be canceled with at least 24 hours’ notice.
Reservations of all kinds cancelled after these allotted windows will receive a 50% refund.
What vaccinations are required for my dog?
